AgentOS vs Perplexity: AI that knows the web, or AI that knows your company?
Perplexity is built to answer questions about the world, with sources. AgentOS is built to give your AI tools the answers about your own company. Perplexity is the tool many people reach for when they need fast, cited research from the web, and its business plans can search your files too. What it finds stays with the person or project that asked. AgentOS keeps your company's knowledge in one shared place, for the whole team and for every AI tool you use. They answer different questions, and plenty of teams will want both.
AgentOS vs Perplexity at a glance

| Best at | Researching the outside world: markets, competitors, news, how-to questions | Questions about your own business: clients, projects, promises and history |
| Company knowledge | Connectors search files in Google Drive, SharePoint or OneDrive when you ask. Sharing is per person or per project | One shared, current picture of the business, built from Gmail, Slack, Google Drive, your CRM and more |
| Works with other AI tools | Its MCP server gives other tools web search and research. We didn't find one that shares your company data | Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and your own agents all read from the same company knowledge over MCP |

What does Perplexity do well?
Perplexity changed how a lot of people look things up. You ask a question in plain language and get a direct answer with its sources listed beside it, so you can check where each claim came from. For market research, competitor checks or getting up to speed on a topic, it's hard to beat.
The business plans add more. Teams get shared Projects, a choice of models including GPT, Claude and Gemini, and connectors that let Perplexity search files in Google Drive, SharePoint or OneDrive. Computer, its task agent, can carry out multi-step jobs, and Comet is a browser built around the assistant.
It takes security seriously, with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, and says it never trains on enterprise data.
Where does Perplexity stop?
Perplexity's home ground is the open web. Its view of your company is narrower.
The file connectors search your documents at the moment you ask, and what you get is yours or your project's. Perplexity's help center says sharing is per person or per project. That's good for privacy. It also means there's no single picture of the business that the whole team's AI works from.
A lot of what a company knows isn't in files anyway. It's in email threads, chat, the CRM and call notes. Those are where the commitments to customers live.
Other tools can't borrow what it knows about you. Perplexity's MCP server gives other AI tools its web search and research. We didn't find one that shares your connected company data with them.
For repeat work there's less to hold on to. Computer handles tasks you prompt, and we didn't find a builder for workflows that run on a schedule. Its usage analytics count users and queries, and don't show cost.
Reviewers love the citations. The criticisms that come up are thin support, and answers that sound confident even when the sources behind them are limited.
How is AgentOS different?
AgentOS answers the other half of the question. It doesn't try to out-research Perplexity on the web. It makes sure your AI tools know your own company.
You connect Gmail, Slack, Google Drive, your CRM and more, and AgentOS keeps one shared, current picture of the business for the whole team. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and your own agents connect to it over MCP. Ask any of them what was promised to a client last month and you get the same answer, linked to the email or call it came from.
For work that repeats, you describe it and Otto, the agent built into AgentOS, builds the workflow and runs it on a schedule. Important changes wait for a person to approve them. You also get one view of AI use and spend across the tools you connect.
Should you choose Perplexity or AgentOS?
Use Perplexity when the answer is out in the world: what a competitor just launched, how a regulation works, which vendors to shortlist.
Use AgentOS when the answer is inside your company: what you agreed with a client, where a project stands, what needs following up this week.
Most teams have both kinds of question every day, so this is rarely an either-or choice.
What about other Perplexity alternatives?
Lists of Perplexity alternatives mostly name other ways to search and research: ChatGPT, Gemini, You.com, Brave Search, Exa and Elicit. If you're weighing assistants, see how AgentOS works with ChatGPT, Claude and Google Gemini.

Questions people ask
Is AgentOS a Perplexity alternative?
Not a like-for-like one. Perplexity is best for researching the web with cited sources. AgentOS gives your AI tools a shared memory of your own company and runs workflows on it. Many teams use both.
How much does Perplexity Enterprise cost?
As of October 12, 2026, Perplexity's help center says Enterprise Pro starts at $40 a month or $400 a year per seat, and Enterprise Max is $325 a month or $3,250 a year per seat.
Can Perplexity search my company's files?
Yes, on business plans. Connectors let it search files in Google Drive, SharePoint or OneDrive when you ask, and they respect the file permissions. Sharing is per person or per project, not company-wide.
Does Perplexity train on business data?
Perplexity says it never trains on enterprise data. It lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications.
Is there a minimum number of seats for Perplexity Enterprise?
No minimum is stated. Some admin features, including audit logs and usage insights, need 50 or more seats or an Enterprise Max seat, according to Perplexity's help center.
Is Perplexity Enterprise worth it?
If your team does a lot of research, reviewers say yes, mainly because every answer shows its sources. It's a weaker fit if what you need most is AI that knows your clients, projects and internal history.
AgentOS is free to try. Connect two or three of the apps your team uses every day, and ask it something only your company would know.
